Clinician-led service | Hybrid working | No on-call | Meaningful pathway improvement

Shape safe, effective adult autism care as an Adult ASD (Autism) Service Lead, combining senior clinical leadership with genuine influence over assessment, diagnosis and pathway development.

This role may suit an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Principal Clinical Psychologist or experienced Autism Clinical Lead with a strong background in adult neurodevelopmental services.

You will have the autonomy to improve quality, strengthen governance and support a multidisciplinary team, while retaining protected time for complex clinical work.

Package & Benefits

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operational and clinical delivery of adult ASD (Autism) assessment and diagnostic services.

• Oversee quality, safeguarding, clinical risk, waiting lists and service performance.

• Provide clinical leadership across complex adult autism presentations, including differential diagnosis and co-occurring mental health needs.

• Line manage and supervise non-medical clinical staff across the service.

• Strengthen assessment pathways, clinical standards, audit processes and quality improvement plans.

• Work alongside senior clinical colleagues to ensure services remain safe, evidence-based and responsive to patient needs.

About You

• Significant post-qualification experience within adult autism, mental health or neurodevelopmental services.

• Current NMC registration with advanced practice experience, or HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist.

• Strong experience of adult autism assessment and differential diagnosis.

• Senior leadership experience involving multidisciplinary teams, clinical governance and service delivery.

• A clear understanding of safeguarding, clinical risk and quality assurance within adult services.
