Service Manager - Integrated Mental Health Services

Permanent Opportunity | Step up from Team Manager | Leadership/Development 

 

I am seeking an experienced, compassionate and practice-focused Service Manager to lead three integrated community mental health teams:

 

Salary: £52,000–£58,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full-time (37 hours per week)

 

• Older People’s Mental Health Team
• Working-Age Adults Mental Health Team
• Early Assessment / Early Intervention Team

 

This is a senior leadership role for a registered Social Worker who is passionate about improving outcomes for people accessing secondary mental health services. You will lead teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality, legally sound social work practice within an integrated health and social care setting.

 

Working closely with health-service partners, you will build effective relationships across organisational boundaries while ensuring strong social work leadership, professional standards and statutory accountability.

 

The role:

 

You will provide visible, supportive leadership across the service, enabling practitioners to develop their expertise and deliver confident, person-centred practice. The teams are office-based, supporting a collaborative working environment, shared learning and accessible management support.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

• Leading and developing three community mental health social work teams.
• Supporting practitioners to build on their individual skills, experience and professional expertise.
• Providing oversight of complex professional, safeguarding and statutory social work matters.
• Driving high standards of quality, performance, governance and assurance.
• Managing staffing, HR matters, budgets and workforce planning.
• Supporting effective roster and resource-management arrangements.
• Promoting strong clinical, professional and social work governance.
• Producing and contributing to quality and performance reporting.
• Leading service improvement and helping shape integrated mental health pathways.
• Working as part of the wider senior leadership team, responding flexibly to service priorities.

 

About you:

 

You will be a credible, values-led Social Work leader with experience of managing services within mental health, adult social care or an integrated health and care environment. You will bring:

 

• A compassionate and inclusive leadership style.
• Strong knowledge of adult social care, mental health legislation and statutory responsibilities.
• Experience managing and developing multidisciplinary or integrated teams.
• Confidence handling complex professional practice issues and organisational change.
• The ability to think strategically while remaining connected to frontline practice.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with staff, partners and stakeholders.
• A genuine commitment to improving systems, strengthening practice and achieving better outcomes for people who use services.
