Trauma-Informed Self-Care Workshop
Led by Natalie Robertson, a Consultant Social Worker and Wellbeing Coach with nearly a decade of experience in children’s social work, this session aims to help social workers navigate the emotional strain of their roles. Natalie, founder of The Social Life, focuses on bridging the gap between professional responsibilities and personal well-being, empowering social workers to thrive in their roles while maintaining their mental health and resilience.
Participants will leave with:
- An understanding of how trauma and stress affect the nervous system and overall wellbeing
- Practical tools to integrate nervous system regulation into daily routines
- Strategies for recognising and processing vicarious trauma effectively
- A personalised self-care toolkit to manage stress and enhance resilience
- A safe space to discuss experiences and share insights with peers during a Q&A session
Assessment Skills Workshop
The second workshop will be led by Vicki Shevlin, an independent social worker and founder of Social Work Sorted, an online platform for newly qualified social workers. Vicki also founded The Social Work Collective, a training and mentoring membership, and hosts Social Work Sorted: The Podcast. With a background in children’s services and experience as a child protection conference chair, Vicki’s training is rooted in the realities of practice, focusing on leaving social workers feeling confident and calm.
This Assessment Skills Workshop will be highly relevant for anyone undertaking assessments, with a focus on Child and Family Assessments, although the principles are transferable to any area of social work.
Participants will leave with:
- A refresher on the context of assessments in line with recent updates to legislation
- Practical tools for undertaking assessment sessions that go beyond a tick-box approach
- Confidence in their written assessment skills
- Creative ideas to ensure children and families are actively included in the assessment process
- A Q&A session to ensure participants feel ready to apply their learning from the workshop
This event is a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional growth, networking, and fostering a supportive community. We’re excited to give back to the community and look forward to seeing you there.
